The Frick Collection is one of New York City’s cultural treasures. Through March 3, 2024, visitors have their final opportunity to experience the collection’s masterpieces reframed at Frick Madison, the museum’s temporary home during the renovation of its historic buildings.
This unprecedented installation, situated five blocks north of the Frick’s permanent location, invites you to explore highlights from one of the world’s foremost collections of European paintings, sculptures, and decorative arts—presented in the bold setting of the iconic Marcel Breuer building on New York’s Upper East Side.
Founded by industrialist Henry Clay Frick, the collection ranges from the Renaissance to the early twentieth century and includes works by celebrated artists such as Bellini, Degas, Fragonard, Gainsborough, Goya, Ingres, Rembrandt, Titian, Vermeer, Veronese, and Whistler.
For the first time in the museum’s history, works are organized chronologically and by region, allowing for fresh perspectives and new insights on the museum’s treasured collection.
During your visit, delight in installation highlights such as all three of the Frick’s Vermeer paintings on view in a dedicated room; Bellini’s beloved St. Francis in the Desert shown in isolation, adjacent to one of Breuer’s iconic trapezoidal windows; and an immersive gallery displaying floor-to-ceiling porcelain pieces arranged by color.
Make the most of the final weeks of Frick Madison and soak in the splendor of renowned masterpieces, thoughtfully reframed within this iconic setting. This limited-time presentation is a dynamic and engaging experience for art enthusiasts, scholars, and curious minds alike.
